DC micro grids

DIRECT-CURRENT MICRO GRIDS IN INDIA Typical tubelight fixture in a hut, India P ower cuts are common in India during summers. A large part of the population do not have access to electricity. Though the Ministry of Power try their best, at times they may fail to supply power to the interior parts of India. To solve this problem, a group of individuals from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras have been working towards supplying electricity by making use of the solar energy and direct-current.  They have successfully installed solar direct-current micro grids providing 125W of electricity to 4000 homes in 71 villages of Rajasthan.[1] So what are direct-current micro grids? A solar panel placed outside a hut DC micro grids consists of an array of solar panel generating 230V DC, an AC distribution line over a distance of 1-2 km and 2 supporting poles. Houses are connected to the distribution line through the junction box mo...

SMART MAIL DETECTOR

Forgot to check your mailbox? Missed an important event? Well, for all of those people we have got the SMART MAIL DETECTOR ! There are times where you may miss out on crucial message or an important event. Look no further. We have just the thing for you. What our mail detector does is detect a mail and send an alert to the user. What our projects uses.... Arduino Uno board 1 pair of IR sensor modules LEDs 560 Ω Resistor Buzzer. What it does.... When a letter is dropped into the mailbox, one of the IR sensor pair detects the obstruction and signals the Arduino board. This in turn, switches ON the LED and the buzzer, alerting the user. The other IR pair is used to count the number of incoming letters. How does it really look like.... (Block diagram of  project prototype) Benefits include.... Since not much circuit connections are involved, the system is easy to build. The design is simple and compact,...
